Visiting : Delhi – LEH – ZINGCHEN – RUMBAK VALLEY ( LADAKH )

Duration : 08 Nights/ 09 Days

India is famous as home to 3 big cats: lion, tiger and leopard. Only the true and enthusiastic wildlife lovers know that
the snowy mountains in the region of Ladakh, in northern India, are also the home of snow leopards. These beautiful big cats are native to the Himalaya mountains at an altitude between 3000-4000 meters. Rumak valley in Hemis National Park in Ladakh, India, is home to around 200 shy snow leopards. During the winter months of  February and March, when the temperature in Rumbak valley ranges from -30 to -40 degrees Celsius, mountain sheep and goats like Bharal, Ibex and Ladakhi Urial come down to the valley for food, and invite snow leopards to come down from high snow peaks to the lower altitude of valley.

This trip focuses on the search for most elusive and least seen Snow Leopards, also some times known as the Ghost of Himalayas. This beautiful big cat lives mainly in the region of Hemis National Park in Ladakh. The Hemis National Park is the part of India’s largest conservation park with over 1,700 square miles of territory. The area is located in the eastern part of Ladakh with an altitude between 3000 to 5000 meters above the sea level. More recent reports indicate that the park houses a large breeding population of snow leopards, mainly in the region of Rumbak valley.

Staying in tents specially designed in the middle of the snow valley and wait patiently a glimpse of this beautiful but rare animal is definitely an experience unforgettable.
