Spa and Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a system of medicine with historical roots in India and practiced through-out the country, particularly in Kerala. In countries beyond India, Ayurveda therapies and practices have been integrated in general wellness applications and in some cases in medical use.
Dhanvantari, an avatar of Vishnu, is the Hindu god associated with Ayurveda. This, 5000 years old Indian medical science is combination of two words, AYU means Life and VEDA means science or knowledge. Thus, Ayurveda means the science of life. This Indian medical system is inspired by nature and as such the therapies are typically based on complex herbal compounds, minerals and metal substances. Ayurveda focuses on treating and eradicating the problem right from the root cause of it, by consideration of diet, lifestyle, routine, exercise and circumstances of a patient. While in India, Ayurveda is being practiced as medicines for the cure of diseases, outside India this miraculous system is used more for wellness and lifestyle with focus on mind, body and soul.
As Ayurveda has been originated in India, there are many Ayurveda retreats focusing on total wellness including the treatments of diseases. Spas in India are inspired from Ayurveda with décor and ambience accordingly. Spas in India practice techniques and principles of Ayurveda including the essential oils used to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.
