Dudhwa National Park

Dudhwa National Park in state of Uttar Pradesh in north India is famous for very good sighting of Royal Bengal Tigers  and Barasingha ( swamp dear ) in India. The area of 490 Sq. kms of the park is flourished with marshy grassland. The park is on Indo-Nepal boarder and falls in Upper-Gangetic plains. The forest is covered by dense Sal trees and grassland comprise about 19% of the park. The wetlands include the rivers, streams, lakes and marshes. The park is home to one of the finest forests in India, some of these trees are more than 150 years old and over 70 ft (21 m) tall.

Due to the vast wetland along with dense forest, the Dudhwa National park provides lot of  opportunities to spot the Royal Bengal Tiger and some rarely seen animals like leopard and sloth bear.  The park is also home to Asiatic elephants in natural habitat. What more, even a large number of rhinos are found here. Dudhwa National park is also home to many rare species of the birds.  Due to high wildlife sighting it is becoming popular among tourists visiting India.

The park has been divided into three major zones named as Dudhwa, Kishanpur and Katarniaghat out of which the Dudhwa zone attracts major number of tourists by offering better tiger sighting opportunities. Option of elephant safari is also available however it is less of a safari but more of an elephant joy ride.

Park can be visited twice a day in morning and evening by jeep along with a naturalist provided by forest department. To add more spices to your jungle safari experience , take an elephant safari to encounter the wildlife closely.

Nearest airport to Dudhwa National park is Lucknow ( 230 kms / 5 hours ). Park is open to visitors from 15th November to 15th June every year.
