Pushkar in Rajasthan , approximate 150 kms from Jaipur is famous for its temples. It is a major Hindu pilgrimage as have many temples of 18th century. However, Pushkar is famous for its unique temple dedicated to Lord Brahma ( One of the GODS from Trinity and is creator of the Universe). Pushkar is on the shore of Pushkar Lake which has many ghats where Hindu pilgrims take bath before entering the temple. Being a sacred city , eggs , meat and alcoholic beverages are forbidden.

Pushkar is also famous for its annual cattle fair which takes place in autumn (second fortnight of October and first fortnight of November). Annual Pushkar Camel Fair features trading of all kind of cattle but majorly of camels and horses. A seven days event attract thousands of tourists from all around the world.  Event features lot of shows of Rajasthani culture including camel and horse race, musical and dance shows. On the last day of the event, people gather around the lake where Hindu pilgrims take bath to offer special prayers to Lord Brahma.

Pushkar is a small town and it is usually the scarcity of hotels during the Pushkar fair time. Lot of hotels and government agencies including Department of Rajasthan Tourism puts temporary luxury tents with en-suite bathrooms.
