Dharamshala Or The Little Lhasa in India is a Buddhist City in Himachal Pradesh, a northern state in India and is the residence of Dalai Lama and the Headquarter of Government of Tibet in Exile. Presence of Dalai Lama and the Tibetan population have made Dharamshala a popular destination for Indian and foreign tourists. Several thousand Tibetan exiles have now settled in the area; most live in and around McLeod Ganj in Upper Dharamshala, where they have built monasteries, temples and schools. Dharamsala is considered to be one of the best places to learn and explore Buddhism and Tibetan Culture as has many monasteries and Buddhist temples.

Namgyal Monastery is the personal monastery of Dalai Lama. Once, Namgyal Monastery was the part of Potala Palace in Lhasa , Tibet but was shifted to Dharamshala during 1959 AD when Dalai Lama moved to India. Today , the monastery has nearly 200 Buddhist monks.

Gyuto Monastery amidst the scenic views of mountains and rivers , was built somewhere in 1400 AD is the tantric energy center of Buddhism.
