Alleppey or Alleappuzha is a small town in Southern Indian State of Kerala and is the hub of back-waters tourism in India. Just about 55 Kms from the Cochin , Allppey is called as “Venice of East” because of its network of back-waters, canals, lagoons and lakes. Traditional  “Kettuvalam ” rice boats were used for centuries to transport goods , people and their produce like coir , rice , pawns and fishes from tiny villages to towns through the network of lakes and canals.

Today, cruising through the enchanting back-waters of Alleppey in a luxury air-condition house boat with kitchen on board is a mesmerizing experience. Palm fringed narrow canals through the expanse of vast paddy fields  and tiny villages lined up at either side of canals are panoramic sights one can never forget.
